Who is required to apply for the FoSCoS FSSAI license?

Types of FSSAI Food License in India

According to the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, all food businesses must obtain a food license or registration under one of the following three categories:

Food License Registration Online - Basic

It is primarily used for businesses with a turnover between $12,000 and $150,000 on an annual basis

All catering businesses, regardless of their turnover, must obtain a state food license rather than a basic registration with FSSAI.

Fssai State License Registration

Licensed companies with profits over 12 lakhs require a state permit.

Fssai Central License Registration

Businesses with an annual turnover over ₹20 crores are eligible to register with the central FSSAI.

A central licence is also required for businesses that supply food to government offices/departments, import/export food, operate franchises, or run chains of hotels/restaurants.

Is an FSSAI license required to import food into India?

Is a license from FSSAI required for the manufacture of food additives alone?
